  Overcoming temptation

1)    Stay away from temptation:
Don't do as the wicked do, and follow the path of evildoers.  Don't even think about; don't go that way.  Turn away and keep moving.   (Proverbs 4:14-15)

2)   Change your motives and belief:
Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts.  Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love and peace.  Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.
(2 Timothy 2:22)

3)    Be cautious and alert:
Stay alert!  Watch out for your great enemy, the devil.  He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.   (1 Peter 5:8)

4)    Pray to God
Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation.  For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.   (Matthew 26:41)

5)    Resist the devil
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.   (James 4:7)

6)    Remember His Word
I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
(Psalm 119:11)

7)    Pursue holiness
If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honourable use.  Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.
(2 Timothy 2:21)

8)    Devotion and faithfulness
Don't be afraid of what you are about to suffer.  The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you.  You will suffer for ten days.  But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life.   (Revelation 2:10)

9)    Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
(Proverbs 4:23)

Admit and repent if you fall down in a temptation

If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.  But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.   (1 John 1:8, 9)
